In Bulgaria, second training session, focused on awareness

07/07/2025
On June 25, 2025, Varna hosted the second training session within LocAll4Flood project, organized by Black Sea – Danube Association for Research and Development (BDCA)

The training session brought together representatives of regional and local authorities, scientific institutions, and professionals. Among the participants were representatives from Dalgopol Municipality — decision makers and experts in urban planning and environmental protection who had also taken part in the first training held earlier this year in Dalgopol. Representatives from Fire Safety and Civil Protection – Varna and the SGS Varna branch laboratory also joined, contributing to the technical discussions.

During the first part of the training, lectures on Adapting to Flash Floods and Enhancing People Awareness and Preparedness were presented. Practical training activities and an interactive session were carried out to strengthen and improve stakeholder coordination and gather feedback. Survey results from Activity 1.3 were presented, revealing a distinct sociodemographic profile in the Bulgarian pilot sites. Additionally, a diverse set of educational materials developed under the LocAll4Flood project was showcased.

In the second part of the training session, a co-creation workshop on stakeholder mapping within the flood risk response chain was facilitated. Participants discussed opportunities for raising public awareness about flash flood risk mitigation and enhancing citizen preparedness in the pilot areas, as well as potential channels for disseminating the educational materials.
