Steering Committee at the UVIC University of Vic

22/04/2026

The LocAll4Flood project consortium gathered at the UVIC University in Vic (Catalonia, Spain) on 21-22 April, hosted by BETA Technological centre.

During the two productive days, the partners, stakeholders and members of the Natural Heritage Mission revised the project’s progress since its beginning in April 2024 and reflected on the actions successfully completed and the key milestones achieved until now. The meeting focused on monitoring the impact of the actions implemented in all the pilot sites, which include Early Warning Systems, Nature-Based Solutions, training sessions and distribution and exhibition of educational materials, as well as stakeholders involvement and collaboration through the Memorandums of understanding. Partners from the Balearic Islands and Catalonia shared their feedback on high-level meetings and the MoUs and exchanged with partners who are preparing the MoUs which will take place in their territory during the next months. The discussion continued with the scientific outputs and the continuity of the project beyond LocAll4Flood.

The event also served to align the efforts in preparation for the upcoming conference in Perpignan (17 June) “Managing flash floods risk in the Mediterranean region”. This high-level Euro-Mediterranean congress will be a crucial opportunity to share knowledge and methodologies to encourage Mediterranean replication and cooperation.

The two-day meeting concluded with the site visit to the River Mèder. The visit allowed the partnership to see part of the river restoration work carried out by the municipality of Vic. In addition, BETA Technological Centre showed the area where the floodplain expansion zone proposed by the project will be created soon.
