On 22 June, the LocAll4Flood project participated in the XXIII Congress of the Iberian Association of Limnology (AIL), held in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain.
Since 1981, the Iberian Association of Limnology has gathered researchers and water managers to advance knowledge on continental aquatic ecosystems, including rivers, lakes, wetlands and reservoirs, to foster research and promote the transfer of scientific knowledge to society.
During the congress, our partners from Beta Technological Centre and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) presented two contributions highlighting the social dimension of flood resilience:
- Understanding social risk perception to support flash flood adaptation: insights from Mediterranean pilot communities
- From knowledge to engagement: lessons from citizen science projects and flash flood risk stakeholder participation in freshwater research
These presentations showcased how understanding community perceptions and fostering meaningful stakeholder engagement can strengthen flash flood adaptation strategies and support more resilient Mediterranean communities.
The congress offered a valuable platform to disseminate the objectives and results of the LocAll4Flood project, which generated interest and fostered engaging discussions with researchers and practitioners.
