The LocAll4Flood project held its fourth in-person Steering Committee meeting at the Polytechnic University of Bari, hosted by the CNR Istituto di Ricerca Sulle Acque.
Over two days, partners and technical teams discussed progress, shared experiences, and planned the next steps for strengthening flood risk management in the Mediterranean.
The sessions began with a comparison of civil protection systems in Italy and Malta, featuring contributions from Protezione Civile Puglia and Malta Civil Protection, who highlighted the need to boost citizen awareness and preparedness. The discussions continued with a visit from Professor Leonardo Damiani, Director of the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land and Chemical Engineering (DICATECh) at the Polytechnic University of Bari.
Partners reviewed project progress, shared updates on Early Warning Systems in pilot areas, and assessed the impact of educational materials and training activities already implemented. The meeting also focused on transfer strategies, multi-stakeholder engagement, and preparations for the final round of training sessions, starting next month.
The event concluded with a visit to the Lama Balice Regional Natural Park, a key example of how Nature-Based Solutions can help mitigate flash floods in Mediterranean landscapes.
