The training sessions at the heart of the Steering Comittee in Palma

19/05/2025

The LocAll4Flood Steering Committee met on the 14th and 15th of May in Palma (Mallorca), where the partnership was hosted by the Universitat de les Illes Balears. A wide range of topics were discussed, as the project is currently at a pivotal moment.

The main activities discussed included the Training Sessions, which are key events in the project as they bring together all the stakeholders for each of the pilot sites to discuss flash floods. The first aim was to review the initial batch and then prepare for the second, which will focus on the adaptation pillar. The third training sessions, which will focus on nature-based solutions, were also discussed at the meeting.

This face-to-face meeting also provided a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the challenges posed by flash floods in Mallorca. This began with a presentation on flood risk management by the Balearic Government and continued with a visit to the Torrent Gros and Torrent de na Bàrbara, the project’s pilot basins. These basins are integrated seamlessly into the urban landscape of Palma.
