The third phase of LocAll4Flood training activities successfully concluded on 25 November 2025 with the 3rd Training Seminar & Co-creation Workshop dedicated to the Kamchya River pilot sites. The event, held in Varna, brought together 21 participants to deepen their understanding of nature-based solutions (NBS) as an effective approach to mitigating flash-flood risks.
It was organised by the Black Sea – Danube Association for Research and Development (BDCA), with the support of the Regional Administration of Varna. This workshop provided a platform for stakeholders to explore how ecological restoration and green infrastructure can enhance local flood resilience. During the seminar, participants examined a variety of NBS applicable to the Kamchya River basin including restored natural landscapes, vegetated buffer zones and permeable urban surfaces.
The experts discussed how this series of measures not only reduce flood vulnerability but also deliver wider environmental and social benefits and reinforce long-term territorial resilience.
This third round of training marks an important step forward in implementing the LocAll4Flood integrated multi-stakeholder governance model across the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions. The discussions and the engagement highlighted the essential role of flood-resilient planning.
After this event, LocAll4Flood training sessions across the project’s pilot sites have been completed. The collective work carried out until now sets a solid foundation for implementing solutions to future floods and move towards a more resilient and coordinated Mediterranean.
