The final round of training sessions is moving forward across all pilot areas, placing strong emphasis on nature-based solutions (NBS) as effective tools for mitigating the impacts of flash flooding.
In Central Macedonia, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) led the third training session and co-creation workshop dedicated to flash-flood mitigation using NBS. The event took place on 21 November in Thessaloniki and was organised with the support of ARTION Conferences & Events.
The session explored the ongoing development of the Integrated Multi-stakeholder Governance Model (IMGM) for the Anthemountas River Basin. Participants examined the transition from traditional grey infrastructure to green approaches, discussing the potential application of NBS within the basin.
The training included a hands-on co-creation workshop, where participants worked collaboratively to identify key benefits and barriers of NBS. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders including consultants, decision-makers, researchers, and environmental professionals from the Region of Central Macedonia, the Municipalities of Delta, Thermaikos and Thessaloniki.
