The LocAll4Flood partnership attended the Summer School entitled “OUR MEDITERRANEAN ECOSYSTEMS’ HEALTH IS IN DANGER. TIME TO RESTORE IT!” which took place from June 18-20, 2024, in Piran, Slovenia. The Natural Heritage Mission of the Interreg Programme organised this summer school, targeting professionals from the Euro-MED area (public administration, NGOs, consultants, researchers, etc…) to improve their understanding of the recently adopted Restoration Law and its implementation. The primary goal of this summer school was to provide professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary for efficient ecosystem restoration, with a particular focus on multi-stakeholders engagement in the restoration process.
The Locall4Flood project will develop and test an innovative Integrated Multi-stakeholder Governance Model (IMGM) to manage flash floods and reduce associated risks by combining prevention, adaptation, and mitigation strategies. In terms of mitigation, the Locall4Flood project will promote nature-based solutions (NBS) as a means of mitigating flood risks, and these solutions could include measures such as river and wetland restoration. Through these actions, the LocAll4Flood project will contribute to the objectives of the new EU Regulation, leaving more space for ecosystems while providing better protection for the population. As a result, the Summer School provided valuable insights and contacts for the effective implementation of the tools proposed in the project.
