The ISOPE, the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers, held its annual conference in Greece at the end of June. The paper presented is entitled “On Modeling the Coastal Floods and Assessing the Impacts on Inundated Urban Areas of Miami (FL, USA)”. Among the co-authors there was Christos Makris from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, one of the partners of the Locall4Flood project. The paper presents recent updates of the CoastFLOOD model, a recently launched in-house hydraulic flood model for the simulation of flooding mainly in coastal areas (natural and urban), further upgraded under the LocAll4Flood project and implemented to serve its objectives of predicting compound and flash flood events. The CoastFLOOD model is used to evaluate flood exposure at building level around properties on the Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach coasts.
